Transformations, A Show of Recycled Art opens in May 2022

The creative works of 27 local artists will be on display at Tortuga from May 6 through 28, 2022.

This show is a platform for artists who create beauty from objects that would otherwise end up in the landfill.

Starting this Friday February 18, 2022 from 5-8pm, Susan Allison-Hatch will present her work, “Soulscapes”. This is a body of work in fiber and mixed media exploring our inner selves.

…Exploring the thin spaces in our lives and in our world—those moments and places in which we step beyond ourselves into what William Couuntryman calls “the borderlands of the holy.”

The show will be at Tortuga until Saturday February 26, 2022. See events tab for hours.

“All Mixed Up”, a pop-up show of the Mixed Media Textile Artists of New Mexico, opened on Friday February 4, 2022. The show will be open each day from 11am until 7pm until Saturday February 12, 2022. Tortuga is taking a rest for these two months. We will be doing some repair and maintenance in January, as well as preparing for the next community show, “Water is Life” which will happen in March 2022.

Announcing: Chachalacas premiere performance @ Tortuga Friday November 19, 2021!

We are excited to announce that the Chachalacas will be performing for the first time at Tortuga Gallery on Friday November 19. Doors open at 7, with music at 7:30pm.

Suggested donation $10

The Chachalacas are an instrumental trio from Albuquerque, NM. They play an eclectic blend of festive music fusing the sounds of surf, exotica, cumbia, polka, choro, and more. The band consists of Javier Saume Mazzei on drums, Jared Putnam on bass, and John Eichleay on the pedal steel. Learn more at www.thechachalacas.com

The distinctive and classic works of Larry Schulte are at Tortuga for the next two weekends.

Sunday November 14, come to Tortuga to meet the artist from 2-4pm.

Open hours are Fridays and Satrudays from 12-5pm.

Closing celebration is Saturday November 20 from 5-8pm.

Added musical event is Friday November 19 with the Chachalacas starting at 7:30pm. Suggested donation $10.
