Electric Desert- A Live Art Event

POP-UP ART EVENT: Build 10a-5p, and Dance 5-8p!
The Build portion is not an interactive time. Andrew will need time to create and set up. Friendly people are welcome to stop in for a quick peek and then come back for the dance portion starting at 5:30pm
5-8pm. $5 cover. Tasty treats and beverages available by donation. All donations will go to Tortuga to support the Bosque Mural.

A "Good Life" event, "The Electric Desert" will feature a pop-up psychedelic desert in which to wander. Having built saguaros, barrel cacti, rocks and shrubs from PVC and cardboard, Abq artist Andrew Fearnside will bring an artificial space of celebration and contemplation to life. The public is invited to be moved by a playlist of electronic atmospheres curated by the Unicorn Collective.

BUILD: Between 10am and 5pm, Albuquerque artist Andrew Fearnside will build and paint an artificial desert, replete with saguaros, stones and desert marigolds, from cardboard and PVC. Sound artists Kristin Satterlee and Arne Gulerud will install a sonic collection of artificial desert sounds.

So here’s the music plan for the day:
10am-5pm Melty Smiler (Jon Pearson’s music name) soundscape
530-730 Downtempo electronica playlist
We’ll be bringing a set of lights. A question: can we change the gallery lighting setup? I would love to be able to create a dim, highly colored light environment at 530pm, using black lights as well, to make The Electric Desert come to life. I will of course understand if it’s not feasible, or not a good idea. Let me know.
730-830: Public Experimentation
