Jack Williams is in his 59th year as a professional touring artist - a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and storyteller, whose songs display a clear sense of place, many of them grounded in - or inspired by - deep southern roots. His performances are highly energetic and entertaining, lacking the introversion which characterizes the performance of many singer-songwriters. His current music is strongly influenced by an early career in jazz, classical, folk, rock and roll, blues, and R&B. He began his musical journey at 4, playing his mother's Arthur Godfrey ukulele, and quickly learned to play the piano and trumpet, absorbing the big band jazz, pop, and classical music on his parents' 78 rpm records, as well as the raw blues music from his surroundings in 1940s South Carolina.
