Julie Suzanne Brokken is an artist~poeta~photographer who’s lived, worked, and exhibited in Albuquerque since 2010.  She attributes her affinity for mixed media and assemblage art to having grown up on her family’s Iowa farm.  “I think it’s genetic, the multitude of varied skills, the resourcefulness, the ability to re-purpose, to not waste anything.  I find it a natural extension to see beyond the surface and original purposes, that I might transform found materials into new works, new metaphors and meanings.  Waste not and have a lot of fun in the process.”  Her studio is at the Factory on 5th Art Space.
