"Re-Birth A Show of the Rainbow Artists" continues
Tortuga is open on Thursday and Friday from 1-5pm until the closing of the Re-Birth show on Friday June 1 from 6-8pm.

Time for Makers continues...
Second and Fourth Thursdays from 10am until noon or so, Tortuga is open for all creatives to bring a project to work on, share space and be inspired by each other. This week, some have chosen to work on 'Altered Books'. Should be a fun time!

This weekend- three events:
Saturday May 19 from 1-4 Tortuga will host the Rainbow artists with an open studio time. Come to see their process, ask questions and be inspired.

Thursday morning April 12 from 10-12am, Tortuga is open to anyone who wants to share space with other creatives. Bring a project that you want to work on and share ideas and inspiration. Bring a snack if you like.
That same day starting at 6pm is our monthly Game Night. Bring a snack and a friend and a playful spirit.
The current show, "In Clear Light" is on view until the end of the month. Regular hours are Thursday and Friday from 1-5pm.

Students from South Valley Academy share their photography along with work from nine Lew Wallace fifth graders. Available for view Thursday and Friday from 1-5pm through the end of the month.

Creating Community & Soup is Love continues through the weekend
If you haven't shopped the bowls from the "Soup is Love" project yet, come soon. The bowls are being snatched up quickly. Vicky Bolen's project to benefit OffCenter started with over 600 bowls. There are about 250 left and shopping continues at Tortuga Friday, Saturday and Sunday March 16, 17 and 18 from 1-5pm.
Creating Community, an exhibit of student work from South Valley Academy and Lew Wallace Elementary will have the opening reception on Sunday March 18 from 2-5pm. Come see the works of these visionary young people.
Thursday March 15: Bowls, Hands, SMASH Bus and Games!
As the new student art show, "Building Community" is being prepared, Tortuga is the place to be. On Thursday. Vicky Bolen will bring bowls from her "Soup is Love" project and they will be available for sale starting at 1pm.
The "Hands" exhibit is on display and takes more than one look in order to see everything.
Shelley will have the SMASH Bus (aka portable art studio) in front of Tortuga to help all to create their own papier mache bowl. (1-5pm)
Things don't stop there- starting at 6pm, we remain open for game night which includes a potluck. Why not bring some soup to share and purchase a bowl made by community members?
Proceeds of all sales go to OffCenter for the Arts.

"Going to the Mountaintop" with Sandia Mountain Art Show
Tortuga is open on Thursday and Friday from 1-5pm and during these events:
Friday February 16 from 7-9pm. The art on the walls provides the perfect backdrop for the storytelling event "Going to the Mountaintop" with tellers adventurer/traveler Rick Berg, Argentine and bilingual storyteller, Matilde Machiavello, and returning Burqueno and lover of the personal narrative, Nash Jones. They share their own tales of mastering majestic and challenging altitudes. Suitable for ages 13 and up. Suggested Donation- $5-15
